Privacy Policy

Effective Date: October 16, 2026

Stay-Safe respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how Stay-Safe may collect, use, store, and share information through the UseStaySafe.com website, the Stay-Safe prototype application, SMS communications, and related prototype services.

Stay-Safe is currently under development and is being tested as a personal safety-backup service. The prototype is not a replacement for 911, emergency services, professional monitoring, medical care, or law enforcement.

1. Information We May Collect

Depending on how a person uses Stay-Safe, we may collect information such as:

  • Name and contact information
  • Mobile phone number and country calling code
  • Email address
  • Stay-Safe contact names and contact information
  • Contact assignments and contact-consent status
  • Check-In setup and event information
  • Check-In start, completion, extension, overdue, and escalation status
  • Get Assistance event information
  • User-entered text or voice notes
  • Location information collected during a user-initiated safety event
  • Memory Log entries, photos, recordings, timestamps, and collection assignments
  • Device, browser, app, permission, and technical information
  • Website, survey, waitlist, and customer-validation information
  • SMS delivery, consent, opt-out, and support records

The information collected depends on the features used and the permissions provided.

2. How We Use Information

Stay-Safe may use collected information to:

  • Operate and test the Stay-Safe website and prototype
  • Create and manage user-initiated Check-In events
  • Send approved safety and status notifications
  • Notify designated contacts about Check-In, Quick Check-In, Get Assistance, completion, overdue, or escalation events
  • Record consent and contact assignments
  • Provide requested support
  • Test SMS, notification, location, audio, camera, and event-persistence behavior
  • Improve usability, reliability, accessibility, privacy, and safety
  • Diagnose technical problems
  • Prevent misuse, fraud, or unauthorized access
  • Conduct customer validation and product research
  • Meet legal, carrier, platform, and regulatory obligations

Stay-Safe does not use its safety-notification SMS program to send advertising or promotional messages during the current prototype-testing phase.

3. SMS and Mobile Information

Stay-Safe sends SMS messages only to recipients who have agreed to receive the applicable messages.

SMS messages may include:

  • Contact-consent or enrollment confirmation
  • Check-In start notifications
  • Successful Check-In completion notifications
  • Overdue Check-In alerts
  • Quick Check-In notifications
  • Get Assistance notifications
  • Safety-event status or escalation updates
  • Service, support, or SMS-program information

Message frequency varies based on user-initiated safety events and testing activity. Message and data rates may apply.

Recipients may reply STOP to opt out of SMS messages and may reply HELP for help.

We do not sell or share your SMS opt-in data or personal information with third parties for marketing or promotional purposes.

Mobile phone numbers, SMS consent records, and opt-in information will not be shared with third parties or affiliates for their own marketing or promotional purposes.

Information may be provided to service providers that process communications or support Stay-Safe operations, but only as reasonably necessary to provide the requested service and subject to appropriate restrictions.

4. Consent

Before Stay-Safe sends SMS safety notifications to a contact, the intended recipient must provide consent through an approved consent process.

During the current prototype-testing phase, consent may be obtained verbally before a participant's mobile number is added as a Stay-Safe notification contact.

Future versions may use a recorded electronic contact-acceptance process.

Consent to receive SMS messages is not a condition of purchasing a product or service.

A person adding another individual as a Stay-Safe contact is responsible for ensuring that the intended recipient has agreed to receive the applicable communications.

5. Location Information

Stay-Safe may collect location information during a user-initiated Check-In, Quick Check-In, Get Assistance event, or another feature that clearly requests location access.

Normal Check-In is not intended to continuously monitor a user's location outside an active, user-initiated safety event.

Get Assistance or other explicitly activated safety features may collect location updates while the event remains active.

Location availability and accuracy depend on the device, permissions, operating system, network, and surrounding conditions.

6. Voice Notes, Text Notes, Photos, and Memory Log

The prototype may allow users to create voice notes, text notes, photos, Memory Log entries, and related event information.

Users should avoid placing unnecessary highly sensitive information in prototype content.

Prototype information may be stored differently from information in a future production version. Prototype users should not rely on the prototype as the only copy of important records.

7. Service Providers

Stay-Safe may use service providers to support website hosting, application development, SMS delivery, email, analytics, storage, testing, and other technical functions.

These providers may process limited information as needed to perform services for Stay-Safe. For example, an SMS provider may process a recipient's mobile number and message content to deliver a requested Stay-Safe notification.

Stay-Safe does not authorize service providers to use SMS opt-in information for unrelated marketing or promotional purposes.

8. Information Sharing

Stay-Safe may share information:

  • With a user's approved Stay-Safe contacts when required by the selected safety workflow
  • With service providers supporting Stay-Safe operations
  • When the user directs or authorizes the sharing
  • When reasonably necessary to protect users, Stay-Safe, or others
  • When required by law, legal process, or a valid government request
  • In connection with a business reorganization, subject to applicable privacy obligations

Stay-Safe does not sell personal information.

9. Data Security

Stay-Safe uses reasonable measures intended to protect information. However, no website, application, wireless network, SMS system, storage platform, or internet transmission method can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

Users should not use the prototype as the sole storage location for critical personal, medical, travel, identity, financial, or safety information.

10. Data Retention

Stay-Safe may retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to:

  • Operate and test the prototype
  • Maintain safety-event history where enabled
  • Document consent and opt-out requests
  • Diagnose technical problems
  • Meet legal, carrier, security, and recordkeeping requirements

Prototype information may be reset or deleted during development and testing.

11. User Choices

Depending on the applicable feature, users and SMS recipients may:

  • Decline optional permissions
  • Update contact information
  • Remove a contact assignment
  • Request correction or deletion of certain information
  • Reply STOP to opt out of SMS messages
  • Reply HELP for SMS help
  • Contact Stay-Safe with a privacy or support question

Some safety features may not function properly if necessary permissions or contact information are unavailable.

12. Children

Stay-Safe is not currently directed to children under 13, and the current prototype should not be used to knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without appropriate authorization.

13. Prototype and Safety Limitations

Stay-Safe is currently a prototype.

Stay-Safe does not guarantee that a notification will be delivered, read, acknowledged, or acted upon. Delivery may be affected by device status, battery level, network availability, carrier filtering, app status, permissions, inaccurate information, or third-party service availability.

Stay-Safe is not a substitute for calling 911 or the applicable local emergency number. In an emergency, contact the appropriate emergency service directly whenever possible.

14. Changes to This Policy

Stay-Safe may update this Privacy Policy as the website, prototype, SMS program, and services develop.

The current effective date will be displayed at the top of this page.
